We are here to make positive changes at our schools.
Out with the screens, in with empowering teachers to teach - IRL!
Introduction, who we are:
We are all former Hill staffers, doctors, professional advocates in healthcare and education policy, tech industry executives and senior leadership who are all worrying about our kids’ overexposure of screens and Ed-tech at schools. A few kick-butt teachers too!
We are here to make positive changes at our schools.
We are advocating for less screens and ed-tech in schools, caregiver (+teacher, principal) opt outs, and paper options for instruction and assessments.
Fewer screens, more empowering teachers to teach - IRL!
We cover all of Virginia, but most of us live and focus on Fairfax County, FCPS.
Given our professional backgrounds, is it any wonder we looked around, saw a bunch of volunteer groups modeled after 501(c)3s but not a whole lot of people engaged in the political arena and thought we’d do what we do best - advocate for what’s most important to us and jump in.
Join us - the water is warm!
No 1:1 device use for Pre-K through at least 3rd grade - - although many of our advocates would like to see that cover all of elementary school
Ensure all standardized tests are available on paper: as a choice made for individual families for their children, teachers for their classrooms, and principals for their schools.
Opt outs from individual device use and ed-tech platforms like Lexia, ST Math, etc. for any parent, teacher, or principal who choses so.
